About the position

The Connectivity Group (TCG) is growing its Christchurch and Timaru Field services teams and requires Telecommunication technicians to join the team as we grow our business.


We are looking for suitable applicants to complement our existing teams in Christchurch and Timaru to undertake service installation, data cabling, wireless radio installations, fault restoration along with assisting with our radio network build in construction, fibre deployments, solar DC and AC power installation along radio linking and access deployment for our customers network deployments.


Successful applicants will form part of a close working team installing customer connections, assisting with fault restoration plus upgrading and building new fixed wireless communications sites, developing our fibre build etc. on our up and coming fibre network, throughout the region along with providing maintenance and build on a variety of up and coming projects both in Canterbury and throughout New Zealand and the Australasia. 


This work is predominantly in rural or high country locations, travel and away work will be required depending on the project location.


The successful applicant will need a broad range of skills with an interest in telecommunications, but practical, can do attitude and a willingness to learn, with a desire to further their career in this industry that offers career advancement beyond the tools.

  • Ideally 3 + years of experience either in Telecommunications, security, electrical or a trade or with related field experience in( data cabling and radio / antenna installation experience preferred)


  • Be current heights qualified with EWP where possible (note training can be provided for the right applicant if these are not currently held) - clearly not afraid of operating at heights


  • Open to advanced heights training including rigging and ropes courses to support our Wireless network and the construction and maintenance of cellular / mobile network 4G & 5G sites 


  • Practical in nature and problem solver, able to get stuck in and help where needed, not afraid of digging a trench, concreting or creating a structure


  • Fast learning, seeking learning opportunities


  • A desire to provide a great experience to the customer or end user every time


  • Have some experience with routers, radio & antennas etc. basically tech savvy and able to use a computer to get the job done


  • Have installation experience (cabling, roof mounting of equipment etc.) construction, electrical or security based


  • Civils and build / construction experience eg. wielding, digger, basic telco build etc.


  • Fit and able to carry out installations and build tasks


  • Basic understanding of DC power


  • Fantastic communication skills -the role will involve talking to customers, working through solutions and quoting customers


  • Able and willing to work on rostered weekends assist where required


  • Efficient operator with the ability to prioritise workflow, work with urgency and deliver on time


  • Fully licensed driver, class 1, class 2 beneficial (license required upon acceptance)


  • Great attitude and a desire to solve each customers connectivity problems every time


  • Self starter, able to look for work on a job site, able to listen to job instructions and act on them


This is a wage position with overtime, on call etc. available. Based on industry experience and capability, hourly rates will be customised to the successful applicant.

All roles  allow for growth incentives, deadlines met and sales can produce monthly add on bonus incentives.
